Chargers coaching search: Seahawks Gus Bradley interviewed Thursday night

Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator Gus Bradley reportedly interviewed with the San Diego Chargers on Thursday night. After leading a resurgent Seahawks defense, could he be the man to turn things around in San Diego?

Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator Gus Bradley interviewed for the San Diego Chargers head coaching position Thursday night, according to Albert Breer of NFL.com. Bradley's Seahawks are in the midst of an impressive six-game win streak, thanks in large part to a defense that hasn't given up more than 17 points in a game over that span.

The Chargers fired Norv Turner at the end of the regular season after the team missed the playoffs for a third-straight season. San Diego’s number of regular season wins declined in each of Turner’s last four years as head coach. The hope may be that Bradley can rejuvenate the Chargers much like he rejuvenated a Seahawks defense that went from 27th in total defense in 2010, to ninth in 2011, to fourth in 2012.

Bradley is just 46, and hasn't been a head coach since leading Fort Lewis College from 1992-95. It is a testament to his ability that he has risen so quickly through the NFL ranks after entering the league in 2005 as a defensive quality control coach with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
