Jermichael Finley wants to remain with Packers ‘forever

Jermichael Finley might not be back with the Packers in 2013, but he certainly wants to remain with Green Bay for 2013 -- and beyond.

Green Bay Packers general manager Ted Thompson has major decisions to make this offseason, as he tries to construct another Packers Super Bowl team in 2013.

Among the decisions he has to make, Thompson will have to decide whether to retain Green Bay's talented tight end, Jermichael Finley.

Though Finley had a slow start to the 2012 season, the tight end finished the season with 61 receptions for 667 yards and two touchdowns, helping lead the Packers to an NFC North title.

Finley is owed a $3.5 million dollar roster bonus on March 5, and is set to earn nearly $4.5 million dollars in 2013 -- if Thompson opts to keep Finley on the roster.

If it were up to Finley, he’d be in Green Bay in 2013 -- and, well, “forever.”

“We just finished losing, man, and hopefully nobody thought that far,” Finley said of his future. “Hopefully, I’m here forever. I’m good for next year as far as I know.”

Finley set a career-high in receptions in 2012, but his production in reception yards and touchdowns decreased from 2011, when Finley had 767 yards and 8 touchdowns.

Whether Finley is a Packer in 2013 remains to be seen, but the 6’5 tight end certainly wants to stick around for quite awhile.
