J.J. Watt channels his inner Terrell Owens by spitting on Patriots logo

J.J. Watt has a pregame routine that likely doesn’t sit well with opposing fans. Here’s what he did to stir up controversy in Foxborough on Sunday.

Jim Rogash

We all know J.J. Watt to be a nightmare for opposing quarterbacks. He doesn’t care who he’s going up against, he’s getting into the backfield. Apparently he also doesn’t care about what field he’s playing on, or what he does to it.

Watt was spotted spitting on the Patriots midfield logo before their divisional playoff matchup on Sunday. According to Watt, though, this is just a typical pregame ritual for the NFL’s sack leader.

“I go out to midfield, spit a little bit, wipe my feet off, and I go through my stretch. No drama there. That’s 100 percent what I do every game, home or away.”

That’s all well and good, J.J., but you can’t expect people to just say, “Oh there’s Watt spitting on our logo. That’s cool, man, you do your thing.” He clearly meant no harm by it. Regardless, he’s drawing plenty of attention from Pats fans.

Need we remind you of the last incident involving a player disrespecting a midfield logo?

Maybe Watt is just a huge Terrell Owens fan. Maybe it is just his routine. Whatever the case, it would probably be a good idea to kick this habit. The Texans don’t need other teams, or fans for that matter, headhunting their star.
