John Abraham injury update: ‘You can’t keep me out’ vs. 49ers

John Abraham appears to have no intention of missing the NFC Championship. Here’s what he had to say on his injury.

Kevin C. Cox

The Falcons pulled of their first playoff victory of the Mike Smith/Matt Ryan era in Atlanta, defeating the Seahawks 30-28 on Sunday. John Abraham was not part of the battle down the stretch, though, as he made an early exit after re-tweaking his ankle on Sunday.

Abraham left the game in the second quarter and did not return. FOX put a camera on him a few times while sitting on the sidelines, clearly frustrated with his inability to play.

"After a while, I just couldn't push off of it anymore," Abraham told the media afterwards. His ankle was initially injured during the fourth quarter of the Falcons final regular season game against the Buccaneers.

He's clearly in pain, but Abraham isn't going to miss his matchup with the 49ers for anything. "Oh yeah, you know me, you can't keep me out of that game...We're going to treat the (heck) out of it," he said when asked about Sunday's game. It might take a complete amputation to keep Abraham off the field against San Francisco.
