Packers vs. 49ers: 49ers’ players react to Colin Kaepernick’s big game

After his big game against the Packers, Colin Kaepernick’s teammates had plenty to say about his performance.

Colin Kaepernick's 49ers teammates watch him in practice every week but -- even knowing what he is capable of -- a few came away impressed by his performance against Green Bay.

Kaepernick threw for 263 yards while rushing for another 181 yards, often shredding the Green Bay defense for big plays. San Francisco linebacker Patrick Willis came away amazed by what Kaepernick was able to do.

“And to see him in practice, you never really see him open up like that in practice. You see them do the offense what they do and whatnot. But, to see him do it in a game, it amazes me. It wows me. And I’m just saying wow, did he just do that,” Willis said.

Wide receiver Michael Crabtree was on the other end of a few of Kaepernick's big plays. Crabtree said Kaepernick is a playmaker and the two play well together because they are both playing with the same goal of trying to win. While Willis and others were wowed by what they saw, running back Frank Gore said he wasn't surprised, knowing what Kaepernick is capable of.

The 49ers advanced to the NFC Championship game for the second straight year, a feat defensive tackle Justin Smith knows isn't a small accomplishment.

“I’ve been in this league for 12 years and it’s hard to get to that game. We’re not going to take it for granted and we’ll give it our best shot,” Smith said.
