Pro Bowl 2013: Vincent Jackson replaces Calvin Johnson on NFC roster

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Vincent Jackson has been named Calvin Johnson’s injury replacement for the Pro Bowl.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Vincent Jackson was added to the Pro Bowl roster on Tuesday as a replacement for Calvin Johnson. Johnson will not participate in the Pro Bowl due to injury for the second straight year.

This is the third Pro Bowl selection for Jackson and his first as a member of the Buccaneers. He finished his first season in Tampa Bay with 72 receptions for 1,384 yards and eight touchdowns. His total receptions and receiving yardage were both career highs for Jackson, who made the Pro Bowl with the Chargers in 2009 and 2011. In 2012, Jackson led the league at 19.2 yards per reception.

Johnson set a single-season record with 1,964 yards receiving this past season but was bothered by nagging injuries for much of the year. Ultimately he decided to rest instead of playing in Honolulu.

Prior to Jackson's selection, defensive tackle Gerald McCoy was the Buccaneers' only Pro Bowl selection.
