The Chicago Bears have hired Aaron Kromer to become their new offensive coordinator and offensive line coach, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Aaron Kromer has been brought aboard by Chicago to run an underachieving offense.

Kromer was a member of the New Orleans Saints' coaching staff, and was the interim coach in 2012 for the first six games of the season before Joe Vitt came back from his bounty-related suspension. In that time, Kromer went 2-4, winning the last two.
The assistant made his bones in the NFL as an offensive line coach, doing it at various stops in the NFL with the Oakland Raiders, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and New Orleans for the past four years.
This will be the first time Kromer is an offensive coordinator at any level, but Chicago is banking that he has learned quite a bit from Sean Payton.
Kromer is replacing former Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Tice, who was never able to run the offense with any efficiency.
Back with the Saints, Kromer earned a reputation as one of the best position coaches in football. He helped to develop on the best units in the game with guard Jahri Evans and Carl Nicks at his disposal. Kromer was part of a coaching staff that in the past four seasons has seen New Orleans ranked first, sixth, first and second.
Kromer's line last season also stood up under incredible duress. Despite teams knowing the Saints often had no choice but to throw, Kromer's group only allowed 59 hits on Drew Brees, the third best total in the NFL.
In the three years prior to 2012, the team finished third, 11th, and first.
All of this will be beyond a welcome change in Chicago, where the line has allowed 93 sacks over the past two season while finished 26th and 27th in allowing Cutler to be hit.
Of course, Kromer was also a Super Bowl champion in 2009 with Drew Brees and company, giving him a sterling resume going into the Windy City.
