Smith just finished up his fourth season in the NFL after being drafted at No. 6 overall by the Bengals in the 2009 NFL Draft. He has started the last two seasons at right tackle after a poor start to his career. Smith’s rookie season was marred by a long contract holdout into the preseason. He was placed on injured reserve after just eight games into the 2010 season due to a broken foot. Smith started every game for the Bengals in 2012.
Smith does not appear to have had any run-ins with the law in the past, but the news is disappointing nonetheless considering how far he has come as a player since showing up notoriously out-of-shape at the 2009 NFL Combine.
