After a lengthy search to replace Mike Tannenbaum, the New York Jets have found their man and plan to hire John Idzik, according to several reports. Idzik has served as the vice president of football administration for the Seattle Seahawks for the past six seasons after joining the team in 2007.
John Idzik hired as Jets GM, according to report
Idzik has previous front office experience with the Buccaneers, Cardinals and Seahawks.

On Thursday it was reported that Idzik was the odds-on favorite to earn the job to which Gang Green Nation expressed relief that the Jets’ search might finally come to an end:
I think a lot of people just want the search over. I don’t care about that as much as I care about the Jets hiring a good candidate. Years from now, nobody will remember how long the search took. All that anybody will remember is the performance of the guy the Jets hired. All indications seem to be that it will be Idzik assuming both that he wants the job and can agree with what the Jets are going to offer him.
Prior to joining the Seahawks, Idzik had experience as the senior director of football operations for the Arizona Cardinals for three seasons. His first NFL experience came with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers where he was hired in 1993 as a pro personnel assistant and rose through the ranks to become assistant general manager during his 11-year tenure with the team.
The Jets finished 2012 with a 6-10 record, their first losing record since hiring Rex Ryan as head coach in 2009.
