The San Diego Chargers will hire Frank Reich as they continue to fill out their offensive coaching staff. Reich will become the Chargers quarterbacks coach, according to Tom Krasovic of the San Diego Union-Tribune. Reich served under new San Diego offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt last season in Arizona.

The San Diego Chargers continued to build their offensive coaching staff with the addition of Frank Reich as the new quarterbacks coach.

Reich, 51, is best known as the backup quarterback who led the Buffalo Bills to the biggest comeback in playoff history over the Houston Oilers in 1993, but he has coaching experience as well. Reich has served as an assistant coach for the last five years, four years in various roles in Indianapolis and last year as the wide receivers coach with the Cardinals. He was the quarterbacks coach of the Colts in 2009 and 2010.
Chargers head coach Mike McCoy, Whisenhunt, and Reich are all offensive minded coaches who have worked with star quarterbacks in their career. Together they hope to get Philip Rivers back into Pro Bowl form after a down year last season.
