San Francisco finished with a better regular season record in 2012, sitting at 11-4-1 heading into the playoffs. Baltimore went 10-6 with a few perplexing games here and there. The Ravens did manage a 7-6 win over the Chiefs on the road.
When taking everything into consideration, this matchup shouldn’t have a huge disparity in the spread. The Patriots opened as 7.5-point favorites for the AFC Championship, and the Ravens walked away with a 15-point victory. Maybe Vegas in keeping that in mind right now.
These two teams faced off last season in Baltimore. John Harbaugh defeated his little brother 16-6, but that was also with Alex Smith passing for 140 yards. Times have changed on both sides.
Joe Flacco looked impressive in the no-huddle down the stretch against the Patriots, throwing three touchdowns and stepping up when Ray Rice and the ground game couldn't get anything going. Both the Ravens and 49ers finished strong in the second half of their respective games. We should expect a closely contested game when Feb. 3 rolls around.
