It has been a hard road for linebacker Sergio Kindle. Perhaps the most difficult thing is watching the team that released him on Jan. 7th, the Ravens, make the Super Bowl for the second time in franchise history. For Kindle, he must watch the game off of the field like everybody else, but his pursuit of NFL dreams continues.

Less than three years after being drafted as one of the top linebacker prospects in the country, Sergio Kindle is fighting for another chance in the NFL. Is New York going to take that chance?

Those dreams resumed on Thursday when the former Texas linebacker tried out for the New York Giants. Kindle saw his draft stock fall in the 2010 draft due to concerns over a knee injury and some off-field incidents, but things got even worse when he fractured his skull down after falling down a flight of stairs the night before his first training camp. He missed the entire 2010 season and has had trouble getting on the field in the last two years.
Kindle has played in just three games in his career and recorded a single tackle. The 43rd overall pick from two drafts ago has yet to realize any hopes of becoming a full-time NFL player, but he looks like a player that isn't ready to give up. The Giants went through a number of different players at outside linebacker in 2012 and could be looking for additional depth there. In addition to Kindle, the Giants tried out tight ends Jamie Childers and Steve Skelton, defensive end Buddy Jackson, kickers Justin Medlock and Carson Wiggs, punter Jake Rogers, quarterback Chester Stewart, and wide receiver Patrick Turner.
Whether or not Kindle is the answer at outside linebacker remains to be seen, but it certainly never hurts to take a look. Kindle has probably had enough "hurt" for now.
