Super Bowl recipes 2013: Finger foods from each team’s city

The staples of any Super Bowl party are beer, wings, pizza and beer, but if you want to spice things up a bit, here are some party foods from each Super Bowl city.

USA TODAY Sports

Every Super Bowl party needs food, and for the most part, that food consists of buffalo wings, pizza and the NFL's unofficial official beverage, beer. Of course there's always going to be chips and salsa and other party snacks as well. It's a safe bet that you could reasonably predict eight or nine out of 10 foods that would be served at any Super Bowl party. If you're hosting a party and you're looking to spice things up a bit with your guests, you could also look to surprise your friends with some finger foods from Baltimore and San Francisco.

Each city is known for their seafood. Baltimore for its crab cakes and San Francisco for cioppino, a fish-based stew. You can buy each pre-made at a grocery store, but if you want to throw a fancier party, you could always make your food from scratch. For crab cakes, you can find a great recipe online as well as in any cookbook, and the same goes for the cioppino.

The actual game is likely one of the smallest aspects of celebrating the Super Bowl, unless you’re a big fan of one of the teams playing, of course, as the parties and the million-dollar commercials take a lot of the attention away from the game. If you’ve thrown a big Super Bowl party every year and you’re looking to impress your friends, why not come at them with something other than the normal chips and dip?
