The Dallas Cowboys are set to hire Derek Dooley as their wide receivers coach, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter on Twitter. Dooley was the former head coach at the University of Tennessee from 2010-12. Unfortunately, in his time with Tennessee, the team recorded its first back-to-back losing seasons since 1910-11.

The Dallas Cowboys are set to hire former Tennessee head coach Derek Dooley, according to a report.

Dooley inherits the management of a talented group of receivers, to be sure. Dez Bryant had a breakout season in 2012, catching 92 passes for 1,382 yards with a whopping 12 touchdowns. He had 19 receptions of 20-plus yards and averaged 15 yards per reception. He was No. 6 in the NFL in receiving yardage, behind only Vincent Jackson, Demaryius Thomas, Brandon Marshall, Andre Johnson and Calvin Johnson.
Outside of Bryant, there's Miles Austin, who did have a down year in 2012, coming off a big injury from the previous season. Still, he caught 66 passes for 943 yards and six touchdowns. Then there's Kevin Ogletree, who had 436 yards.
Combined with the tight end position, the Cowboys had the No. 3 passing attack in the NFL this past season, with 295.6 yards per game. Provided Tony Romo continues relatively strong play, Dooley is coming to a Dallas team already set up for success through the air.
Dooley worked with current Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett in Miami, when Garrett was the quarterbacks coach and Dooley coached tight ends for the Dolphins under Nick Saban in 2005-06.
