J.J. Watt injury: Texans star cuts pinky at 2013 Pro Bowl

J.J. Watt injured his pinky finger during the Pro Bowl, but the injury didn’t result in anything more than a few stitches.

While it's meant to be a fun game featuring the NFL's most talented players, the Pro Bowl can be a nerve-wracking event for coaches and executives who hope their star players make it out without injury. The Houston Texans can take a sigh of relief after the finger injury J.J. Watt suffered during Sunday's Pro Bowl turned out to be nothing more than a cut.

Watt, the Texans star defensive end and NFL Defensive Player of the Year candidate, was injured during the first quarter of Sunday’s game, but not while he was playing defensive end. Instead, Watt injured the finger while attempting to catch a pass as a wide receiver.

After lobbying to play wide receiver during the week, Watt was targeted twice on Sunday. The first target, from Denver quarterback Peyton Manning, ended up cutting Watt's finger as he attempted to catch it. While there was plenty of blood, including some on his jersey, Watt said he would need to get some stitches after, but would be just fine.

“(It) just got cut open. I didn’t even realize how bad it bled, but it bled pretty good. I’m alright, though. That’s football. It’s not fun if you’re not going to get bloody,” Watt said, according to Houston Texans.com.
