On Monday, the 49ers were a 3-1/2-point favorite on a number of online betting websites, but a 4-1/2-point favorite on the online betting website Bovada. The odds on Bovada have since dropped slightly, as San Francisco is now a 4-point favorite, according to OddsShark.
The slight drop is far from a major event, but does show that bettors continue to favor the Ravens at the higher odds. Of the six online betting sites listed, five have the 49ers as 3-1/2-point favorites. Bettors picking the Ravens to cover the spread are going against the results from the regular season. Baltimore went 6-9-1 against the spread during the regular season while San Francisco went 9-7 against the spread.
Baltimore, however, has been much better against the spread in the postseason, going 3-0. That mark includes two games where the Ravens won despite opening as at least 8-point underdogs. In addition to the shrinking spread, the total has also dropped after opening at 49. Bovada, 5 Dimes, Just Bet and Top Bet currently have the total at 47-1/2 while Bet Online and SBG Global have it at 47.
San Francisco fans hope history continues, as the 49ers are 5-0 against the spread in the Super Bowl.
