It's a good thing for Joe Flacco that Super Bowl XLVII will be played in the relatively cozy confines of the Super Dome this Sunday. The Baltimore Ravens quarterback did not mince words when asked what he thought about the 2014 Super Bowl being held in MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., next year. Via the Denver Post:
Super Bowl 2013: Joe Flacco really dislikes cold weather
Joe Flacco hates the idea of a cold weather Super Bowl just a little too much.

“I think it’s retarded,” Flacco said. “I probably shouldn’t say that. I think it’s stupid. If you want a Super Bowl, put a retractable dome on your stadium. Then you can get one. Other than that I don’t really like the idea. I don’t think people would react very well to it, or be glad to play anybody in that kind of weather.”

Flacco didn't seem to mind the chilly weather in the Divisional Round of the 2013 NFL Playoffs. Taking on the Denver Broncos at Mile High on the coldest day for any game played during the 2012-13 NFL season, Flacco outdueled Peyton Manning, going 18-for-34 passing for 331 yards and three touchdowns. The Broncos, by the way, are bidding in hopes of hosting the Super Bowl in 2018, 2019 or 2020.
Suffice it to say, Flacco caught a lot of people off guard by his strong response to a seemingly innocuous question. In the same week his dad called him “dull,” no less.
