Super Bowl tickets 2013: Prices and quantity declining

Super Bowl XLVII is approaching, but while the number of available tickets is declining, the price is also dropping.

Patience is indeed a virtue for those fans who decided to wait to buy their Super Bowl XLVII tickets, as the average price continues to decline.

In the days following the AFC and NFC Championship games, the average ticket price was just over $3,700. Now, with the game less than a week away, the average price has dropped to $3,277, according to TiqIQ. Fans not wanting to spend over $3,000 can opt for the cheapest available seats in the Mercedez-Benz Superdome, which are currently selling for $1,699. On the other side, fans wanting to enjoy the game from the best possible seats available can do so for $5,863.

There are more tickets available now than there were in the days after the Super Bowl matchup was set, but the quantity continues to drop from recent highs. There were nearly 5,200 tickets available on Monday, but that number is down to 4,793. The number of available tickets, however, is constantly fluctuating, as fans are trying to both sell and buy tickets in the final few days leading up to the big game.

Sunday’s Super Bowl is scheduled to kick off at 6:30 p.m. ET. It will be the 10th Super Bowl held in New Orleans.
