Cardinals’ coaching candidates: Todd Haley reportedly in the mix

The Arizona Cardinals have requested permission to interview Steelers’ offensive coordinator Todd Haley, according to a report.

As the Arizona Cardinals continue their search for a new head coach, the team has reportedly requested permission to interview Pittsburgh Steelers' offensive coordinator Todd Haley, according to Mike Jurecki of XTRA 910 in Phoenix.

A return to Arizona would be a homecoming of sorts for the 45-year-old Haley. He served as the team’s offensive coordinator in 2007 and 2008. Haley led Arizona’s offense to a franchise-record in scoring (427 points), which helped them win the NFC West championship and ended with the franchise’s first Super Bowl appearance.

Haley spent 45 games as the head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs from 2009 to 2011, compiling a 19-26 record before being fired 13 games into the 2011 season after leading the team to a 5-8 record.

The Cardinals are also reportedly interested in former Philadelphia Eagles' head coach Andy Reid, Cardinals' defensive coordinator Ray Horton and Denver Broncos' offensive coordinator Mike McCoy.
