Vikings vs. Packers injury report: Christian Ponder limited in practice with elbow injury

Minnesota quarterback Christian Ponder could be slowed by an elbow injury against Green Bay on Saturday night.

USA TODAY Sports

Banged-up during last weekend's narrow victory over Green Bay, Minnesota Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder remains one of the biggest names on the injury report heading into Saturday's NFC Wild Card showdown.

Ponder was a limited participant in practice on both days this week in an effort to stay fresh, according to head coach Leslie Frazier, but he is still expected to begin Saturday night under center for the Vikings barring a setback. Due to the fact that their starting quarterback was unavailable to take part in a full practice, the Vikings spent valuable time preparing inexperienced backup Joe Webb for game action as their emergency playoff quarterback.

Even though he did not suit up on Thursday, Minnesota cornerback Antoine Winfield remains questionable for the weekend after recently suffering a broken hand. Winfield was limited to just 18 snaps last Sunday due to the injury, but he still told 1500ESPN.com’s Tom Pelissero that he “definitely” will play and already has a brand new cast picked out and ready to go.

After each entered the week as question marks, Green Bay's trio of Randall Cobb, Jordy Nelson and Jermichael Finley all suited up for a full practice on Thursday. Each player remains on track to play against the Vikings, a scenario that will afford quarterback Aaron Rodgers his full arsenal of weapons in the passing game. Despite missing the final practice of the week with an illness, Packers cornerback Tramon Williams is not expected to be limited on Saturday night.
