Super Bowl 2013: Michael Oher doesn’t want to hear about ‘The Blind Side’

Baltimore Ravens tackle Michael Oher just wants to talk about football.

The Baltimore Ravens are in their first Super Bowl since 2000, and their right tackle, Michael Oher, is in his first one period.

Oher, the subject of a famous movie entitled “The Blind Side,” is already sick of hearing about the movie that depicts him as a quiet young boy from a poor neighborhood who gets brought in by a well-off family, according to Yahoo.

"I’m tired of the movie. I’m here to play football," Oher said early during his media session on the floor of the Superdome. "Football is what got me here and the movie, it wasn’t me. I always knew how to play football growing up. It was different personalities, stuff like that. Playing football is what got me to this point."

After struggling for much of the year, head coach John Harbaugh moved Oher to the right side where he has excelled in the playoffs. Oher, a first-round pick by Baltimore back in 2009, hasn’t always been embracing of the movie. He has taken some razzing by his teammates for it over the years, but Oher knows that comes with the territory. Per the article:

“They (his teammates) joke about it, jokes here and there,” Oher told SI.com’s Don Banks. “It’s all fun. I knew they were going to enjoy it and have fun with it. It’s crazy because when it first came out, nobody said one word about it. I don’t know if they didn’t know what I was going to say or think. But now these last couple of years they actually joke around and kid around about it a lot.”

Should the Ravens walk out of the Superdome on Sunday night as Super Bowl champions, Oher will have written his own Hollywood ending for a team that nobody expected to be there a month ago.
