Super Bowl 2013: The great chicken wing caper

Two Georgia men dared to dream big when it came to chicken wings.

US PRESSWIRE

Dewayne Patterson and Renaldo Jackson didn’t just see 26,000 pounds of frozen chicken wings, they saw a dream.

Like every great tale of American ingenuity, it all started with an idea. From there, idle after-work chatter turned into careful plotting. All these two would-be wing impresarios needed was a truck, a forklift to lift 10 pallets and the cover of darkness. Sure, it was risky, but nobody knew the ins and outs of Nordic Cold Storage in Doraville better than Jackson and Patterson, who worked there.

They almost had it too, getting the wings out of storage and whisked away to a secure location. Somewhere along the way they slipped up though, and the law caught up to them.

According to CBS Atlanta, the wings have yet to discovered, squirreled away for some other Robin Hood to get his chance at bringing down the robber barons who control this country’s chicken parts business. Unfortunately, taking 26,000 pounds of wings off the market is driving up prices. A five-pound bag had a street value of $12.50, just days away from the Super Bowl.
