Chip Kelly, Lovie Smith among Bills’ interviews

The Buffalo Bills have formally interviewed three candidates for their vacant coaching position.

The Buffalo Bills have formally interviewed Chip Kelly, Doug Marrone and Lovie Smith for their vacant head coach position, according to the team's official Twitter feed.

The Bills fired Chan Gailey at the end of this season after the team finished 6-10 and in last place in the AFC East division. Gailey spent the last three seasons with the Bills.

Lovie Smith became a candidate for Buffalo after the Bears fired him following their 10-6 season. Smith went 80-64 in nine seasons with Chicago.

Doug Marrone led Syracuse to an 8-5 record this season including a bowl win over West Virginia. Marrone has gone 25-25 in four years at Syracuse and served as an assistant coach with the New Orleans Saints and New York Jets before that.

Chip Kelly has been the head coach at Oregon since 2009 and is coming off a 35-17 win over Kansas State in this year’s Fiesta Bowl. The Cleveland Browns interviewed Kelly on Friday, and the Philadelphia Eagles were also set to interview the Ducks coach.
