Kory Lichtensteiger injury: Redskins LG re-injures left ankle vs. Seahawks

The Redskins may be without starting left guard Kory Lichtensteiger for the rest of Sunday’s game after he re-injured his ankle on the first series.

Washington Redskins starting left guard Kory Lichtensteiger re-injured his left ankle during the team's first series against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday afternoon, the team announced. His return to the game is questionable, though Redskins beat writer Zac Boyer doubts he'll actually come back into the game.

The Redskins looked strong on their opening drive, scoring a touchdown on their first possession of the game for just the third time this season, but losing Lichtensteiger hurts one of the league’s better offenses. He’s still on the sidelines at the moment, though, which could be seen as a sign that his injury isn’t particularly severe.

Lichtensteiger didn’t practice all week in anticipation of the Redskins’ first postseason game since Jan. 8, 2008, but Redskins coach Mike Shanahan insisted all along that he could still play. That proved to be the case when it was announced that the lineman would be active, but his appearance against Seattle was quite short-lived.
