Redskins injury report: Robert Griffin III, Kory Lichtensteiger injured in loss

Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III and offensive lineman Kory Lichtensteiger were injured during Washington’s loss to Seattle.

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

Though he's certainly captured the headlines, Robert Griffin III wasn't the only member of the Redskins injured on Sunday. Washington Redskins left guard Kory Lichtensteiger revealed that he suffered a high ankle sprain during Washington's Wild Card round loss to the Seattle Seahawks, but that he expects the injury to heal within a month.

Lichtensteiger, who is eligible for free agency, also noted that he would like to return to Washington in 2013.

Lichtensteiger originally injured his ankle after Washington's Week 17 win over the Dallas Cowboys. Lichtensteiger was cleared to play before Sunday, but unfortunately aggravated his injury in the first quarter.

The Redskins and Redskins fans alike are still waiting to know the severity of RGIII’s injury. Washington’s star quarterback was noticeably limping throughout Sunday’s game, and eventually, his knee gave out in the fourth quarter in a non-contact injury.

At least one of RGIII’s teammates doesn’t believe that RGIII suffered a major tear, and believes RGIII avoided serious injury.

Redskins wide receiver Pierre Garcon was also forced from Washington's loss with a shoulder injury, but returned to the game shortly thereafter. Plagued by a foot injury for the majority of the season, Garcon was limited to just 10 games for the Redskins this season. Garcon doesn't believe that he'll need offseason surgery to correct the injury, but team doctors will ultimately decide.
