The condition of Robert Griffin III's right knee is one of the biggest stories in the NFL right now, but there are still conflicting reports dating back to the original knee injury Griffin suffered in Week 14.

In a story from USA Today, Redskins team orthopedist Dr. James Andrews said he never cleared Griffin to return in Week 14, despite the fact head coach Mike Shanahan said he allowed Griffin to return with the blessing of Andrews. Griffin left the Week 14 contest against the Ravens after suffering an injury, but missed only one play. Andrews said he couldn't have cleared Griffin, because he never even got the chance to look at him.

“He came off the field, circled through the players with helmet on and went immediately back in the game without anyone -- trainers or medical staff -- getting close to him, much less examining him,” Andrews said, via USA Today.

On Sunday, Shanahan said Andrews “figured” Griffin was alright to return after seeing him jog on the field in Week 14. Griffin suffered another knee injury on Sunday, but once again returned to the game. He was clearly hobbled and left the game in the fourth quarter after suffering another injury. Andrews and the Redskins are still trying to determine the severity of the latest injury. An MRI suggested Griffin may have partially torn ligaments, but its still undetermined whether the MRI is showing a new or old injury.
