Dennis Allen impressed with Terrelle Pryor’s ‘presence’

Pryor showed enough in the Raiders’ regular season finale that Allen insists the team will account for him in its plans moving forward.

USA TODAY Sports

First-year Oakland Raiders head coach Dennis Allen had an unceremonious start to his tenure, leading the team to a 4-12 record and third-place finish in the AFC West.

In the regular season finale, Allen gave second-year quarterback Terrelle Pryor a chance to prove himself, starting him in place of Carson Palmer against the San Diego Chargers. Pryor surprised, passing for 150 yards and two touchdowns while adding 49 yards and another score on the ground. While he completed less than 50 percent of his passes, he only turned the ball over once.

The performance wasn’t perfect, but Pryor did enough to impress his coach. Allen thought Pryor had a solid presence and demeanor on the field in the regular season finale, as he said in an interview with 97.5 The Game in San Francisco on Monday.

Allen added that the team will account for Pryor moving forward due to his athleticism and playmaking ability.
