The Seattle Seahawks singed veteran kicker Ryan Longwell on Tuesday, according to a report from ESPN's Ed Werder.
Seahawks sign kicker Ryan Longwell
With Steve Hauschka nursing an injury, the Seahawks signed kicker Ryan Longwell on Tuesday.

Longwell was one of several kickers the Seahawks brought in for tryouts this week. Seattle was in the market for a kicker after Steve Hauschka was injured during Seattle's Wild Card win against the Redskins. Despite being hampered by the injury, Hauschka was able to kick field goals and extra points in the game. Punter Jon Ryan handled the kickoff duties.
Longwell, a 15-year veteran, hasn't been on a roster since being released by the Vikings in May. He made 22 of 28 field goal attempts last season, but has a career success rate of 83.2 percent. Seattle has not made a corresponding roster move, so it's still unknown whether Longwell will replace Hauschka or is just an insurance policy in case Hauschka is not able to kick against Atlanta.
If Longwell does replace Hauschka, Seattle may still decide to turn to Ryan for kickoffs. Longwell finished last season with just 19 touchbacks, the second-fewest of any kicker with at least 60 kickoffs.
