With outside candidates coming off the board, current New York Jets assistant general manager Scott Cohen reportedly put his best foot forward in an interview for the team's open general manager position on Tuesday, according to Jason La Canfora of CBSSports.com.

Owner Woody Johnson and the Jets fired previous general manager Mike Tannenbaum last Monday in a series of personnel overhauls, while deciding to retain the services of head coach Rex Ryan in the process.
Thus far, other candidates who have interviewed for the Jets' general manager position include Atlanta Falcons director of player personnel David Caldwell -- who agreed to become the GM of the Jacksonville Jaguars on Tuesday -- and, along with Cohen, San Francisco 49ers director of player personnel Tom Gamble and New York Giants director of college scouting Marc Ross.
