Browns coaching rumors: Panthers OC Rob Chudzinski interviewed on Wednesday

Carolina Panthers offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski will interview for the Cleveland Browns’ head coaching job on Wednesday.

Jeremy Brevard-US PRESSWIRE

The Cleveland Browns are set to interview Carolina Panthers offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski on Wednesday, according to Mary Kay Cabot.

Cleveland failed to lure Oregon Ducks head coach Chip Kelly away from the college ranks, and have been linked to a number of coaches since, including ESPN Monday Night Football commentator, Jon Gruden.

Chudzinski has coached in Cleveland before. In 2004, Chudzinski served as the Browns' tight ends coach, before becoming the tight ends coach for the San Diego Chargers in 2005-06. Chudzinski returned to Cleveland after the 2006 season, serving as Cleveland's offensive coordinator from 2007-08.

Following the 2008 season, Chudzinski returned to San Diego for another two years, serving as the tight ends coach and assistant head coach. In 2011, he was named Carolina’s offensive coordinator.

In Chudzinski’s first year as Carolina’s offensive coordinator, the Panthers scored 406 points -- a staggering 210 more points than the Panthers scored in 2010.

In addition to Chudzinski, Cleveland has also been linked to Montreal Alouettes coach Marc Trestman, Indianapolis Colts offensive coordinator Bruce Arians, and Cincinnati Bengals defensive coordinator, Mike Zimmer.
