Robert Griffin III’s surgery to repair both his LCL and ACL was completed midday Wednesday.

RGIII’s father told USA Today that his son needed a complete ACL replacement, saying that his ACL was still intact, but that it needed to be stronger given he’s an NFL quarterback.
Griffin III originally suffered a Grade I LCL sprain during the Redskins' Week 14 win over the Baltimore Ravens. The LCL sprain forced RGIII to miss Washington's Week 15 win over the Cleveland Browns, but that wold be the only game RGIII missed, as the star quarterback returned in Week 16.
The former Heisman trophy winner re-injured his knee during Washington's Wild Card round loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Griffin III was noticeably limping in the first quarter, before his knee completely gave out on a non-contact injury late in the fourth quarter.
Per the Washington Post, Griffin III will remain in Florida “for the foreseeable future to be monitored, and begin his rehabilitation.”
RGIII injured the same ACL the 2009 season, during Baylor’s third game of the season. Griffin III returned to open the 2010 season as Baylor’s quarterback, but underwent surgery much earlier in the year.
