NFL news roundup: Josh Freeman drama continues; Terrelle Pryor concussion update

Things are getting weird between Freeman and the Bucs.

Jeff Zelevansky

The feud between Josh Freeman and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers gets messier and messier by the day. On Monday, a report surfaced that Freeman is in stage one of the NFL's drug program. But what was buried in the report was why. Freeman said in a statement that he sought approval for the prescription drug Adderall, which puts him in the program.

That’s not a slight on Freeman by any means, but that’s how it was painted. A lot of news about Freeman has painted a negative picture of the quarterback since he was benched last week, and there appears to be a serious issue with him and the organization.

Here are a few other news items you may have missed on Monday.

Terrelle Pryor has to be non-symptomatic to play

Terrelle Pryor was a game-time decision for the Raiders on Sunday, but they elected to keep him out of the game after concussion symptoms resurfaced on Saturday night. Before he can get back on the field, he has to be completely free of symptoms, according to a report from ESPN. Oakland is rightfully playing it safe with its talented young quarterback.

Titans set to try out David Carr, John Skelton

After Jake Locker went down with a hip injury that could sideline him for up to a month, the quarterback position became a problem for the Tennessee Titans. On Monday, reports suggested that the team will work out David Carr, John Skelton and possibly Matt Leinart. That should solve the problem.

C.J. Spiller will be active on Thursday Night Football

C.J. Spiller hasn't gotten off to the start most were hoping for, and some of that has to do with an ankle injury he's been dealing with. Spiller was hopeful about playing on a short week in Week 5, and on Monday Adam Schefter reported that Spiller should be active for Buffalo's game against the Cleveland Browns. Even at less than 100 percent, Spiller is a weapon.
