Ravens acquire OT Eugene Monroe in trade with Jaguars

If he passes a physical, Eugene Monroe will be headed from Jacksonville to Baltimore.

Phil Sears-US PRESSWIRE

The Jacksonville Jaguars traded Eugene Monroe to the Baltimore Ravens with Monroe only needing to pass a physical for the deal to become official, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

The Ravens are sending “multiple third-day draft picks” to Jacksonville in return for Monroe, per Schefter. According to NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport, Monroe is expected to fly to Baltimore on Wednesday to complete the deal.

Monroe, the No. 8 pick in the 2009 NFL Draft, has been a solid starter at left tackle during his career. He's started 62 of 65 career games, including all four games this season. Monroe is under contract through this season and is expected to take over for Bryant McKinnie as Baltimore's starting left tackle. McKinnie is struggling this season after playing well down the stretch for Baltimore last year.

At 0-4, Jacksonville is in the process of a rebuild and acquiring multiple draft picks will help in that regard. Luke Joeckel, the No. 2 pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, will slide from right to left tackle with Monroe's departure. With Joeckel waiting in the wings, there was some question about whether or not Monroe was in Jacksonville's long-term plan.
