Deion Sanders accused of assault at his charter school

Hall of Fame cornerback and NFL Network analyst Deion Sanders may face legal action after an alleged scuffle in Dallas.

Andrew Weber-USA TODAY Sports

Former NFL star Deion Sanders is being investigated for an incident in which he allegedly assaulted an employee of a Dallas area charter school that the NFL Network analyst co-founded, according to the Dallas Morning News.

The alleged altercation took place on Wednesday at Prime Prep Academy, where Sanders is claimed to have grabbed the throat of employee Kevin Jefferson. The employee said that the reason for the heated exchange was due to Sanders’ anger over the grades of some of the students at the school. Jefferson said the incident occurred in front of several witnesses and that Sanders had to be restrained by fellow staff members.

“[Sanders] walked back to the back of the classroom to where I was sitting in a desk,” Jefferson said. “As he got closer to me, I stood up because he was kind of standing over me and he just kind of kept talking to me and at me and then he just grabbed me by my throat and kind of threw me to the ground. Some people had to get him off of me.”

Jefferson went to the hospital following the alleged attack and involved Dallas police following the exam. Police have not released any information about the case as of Thursday afternoon.

Sanders, however, has taken to Twitter on Thursday to address the accusation:

Sanders’ charter school made headlines earlier this year when the NCAA ruled two students ineligible for basketball scholarships because of the school’s course work.
