NFL fines roundup: Aaron Williams, Daryl Washington draw $21,000 each

The NFL dished out its weekly fines on Friday, including $21,000 penalties for Buffalo Bills cornerback Aaron Williams and Arizona Cardinals linebacker Daryl Washington.

Williams was penalized on Sunday for a helmet-to-helmet hit on Cleveland Browns wide receiver Davone Bess in the first quarter. Washington was fined in his first game back from suspension for a roughing the passer call he received when he hit Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton.

Also proving that hitting star quarterbacks isn't a smart idea were Cowboys defensive lineman George Selvie and Lions defensive lineman Israel Idonije for their hits on Peyton Manning and Aaron Rodgers, respectively. Selvie received a $7,785 fine for grabbing Manning's facemask, and Idonije was fined $15,750 for a "leg whip" committed against Rodgers.

Rounding out the remaining fines were $15,750 penalties for Giants safety Will Hill and Packers safety Jerron McMillian for unnecessary roughness penalties. Bills running back Fred Jackson earned a $7,875 fine for a taunt of Browns defensive tackle Phil Taylor, and Patriots linebacker Brandon Spikes was fined $7,875 for a uniform violation, as he wore red shoes for the team's game against the Bengals.
