Branden Albert injury: Chiefs LT leaves with hurt arm

Kansas City’s top pass blocker has left the game.

Kansas City Chiefs left tackle Branden Albert injured his arm and was down on the field before leaving under his own power. He was looked at on the sideline, before returning to the game.

Running back Jamaal Charles ran into Albert's arm, causing the injury. The sixth-year offensive tackle has been the team's most reliable pass blocker, but the Chiefs are already struggling against the Oakland Raiders' pass rush. Kansas City has given up three sacks in the first quarter, gaining just 39 yards early in the game.

Donald Stephenson played in Albert's absence. He started seven games for the Chiefs in 2012, but he did not shine during his rookie season, allowing five sacks. This forced him to take a step back into a rotational role. It will be interesting to watch Albert moving forward, as his not absence could severely hurt Kansas City's ball controlling offense.
