The Carolina Panthers and Minnesota Vikings were both bit by the injury bug on defense.

The Carolina Panthers defeated the Minnesota Vikings, 35-10, in a game full of emotion as Adrian Peterson elected to play just days after the death of his son. Neither team suffered any injuries on offense, but both teams took shots on defense.

Harrison Smith was the biggest injury of the day as the Vikings’ safety left the game in the third quarter with a foot injury. Smith went to the sideline under his own power, where trainers looked at him on the cart. After a few minutes he was taken from the field and did not return on Sunday. Smith suffered turf toe, according to Chip Scoggins, but there is no further update on his status at this time. Turf toe typically sees players return quickly, but it can knock guys out for a few weeks.

Rotational linebacker Desmond Bishop was also hurt, as he left the game in the first quarter. He sprained his knee in Sunday's game, and there is also no further update on his injury at this time.

The Panthers are working with a patchwork secondary which could be hurting more after Melvin White took a shot and left the field in the third quarter. White attempted to tackle Peterson when teammate Frank Alexander ran into the defensive back. He sat on the sideline where he was looked at by a doctor for a possible concussion before leaving the field. There is no further update on his status at this time.
