Jaguars vs. Broncos 2013 final score: Denver overcomes surprising effort by Jacksonville, wins 35-19

The Jaguars lost again, but they have some positive things to look at after keeping the Broncos close. Denver won, 35-19.

The Denver Broncos shook off a salty effort by the Jacksonville Jaguars to win, 35-19, and keep their unbeaten streak alive. The Jaguars are still looking for their first win of the season.

Entering the game as one of the biggest underdogs in NFL history, the Jaguars tried to make things interesting early on, calling a fake punt deep in their own territory. It failed, and Peyton Manning hit Julius Thomas less than a minute later for the first touchdown. Manning struck again shortly afterwards, finding Wes Welker to extend the lead to 14-0. The Jaguars kicked two field goals and made some surprising defensive stops to keep things relatively close. They pulled even closer at the end of the first half when Manning threw his second interception of the year. Paul Posluszny took the pick 59 yards for a score, and the Broncos went into halftime leading by just two points, 14-12.

The Broncos quickly extended the lead to 21-12 after a Knowshon Moreno plunge from the goal line. The Jaguars refused to quit, however, driving back down the field to get back within two points with a Maurice Jones-Drew touchdown. Denver quickly struck back with two more touchdowns by Moreno to put the game away, but the Jaguars will walk away with their heads high after a respectable performance.

Fantasy studs and duds

Knowshon Moreno had only 42 yards on 15 carries, but the three touchdowns will make him one of the highest fantasy scorers of the weekend.

Justin Blackmon had another monster day for the Jaguars, hauling in 14 catches for 190 yards.

Injury report

Cecil Shorts III left the game with a shoulder sprain and did not return.

Did they cover?

The Broncos were huge 27-point favorites coming into the game and won by only 16 points. People who bet on the Jaguars to beat the spread will be quite happy with this result.
