The Saints’ Pro Bowl tight end’s day went from bad to worse when he limped off the field.

New Orleans Saints tight end Jimmy Graham left Sunday's game against the New England Patriots in the fourth quarter with an apparent ankle injury.

Graham came up limping after Drew Brees tried to find him on a crossing route with just over 10 minutes left in the game. On the play, Brees attempted to call a timeout, but instead quickly took the snap and threw an interception as he tried to target Graham. The tight end pulled up midway through his route and immediately went to the sideline, where trainers worked on his ankle. There is no further update on his status at this time.

In his place, the Saints turned to Ben Watson, who has been surprisingly more productive against the Patriots in Week 6. He has two catches for 57 yards, while Graham has been shut out by New England’s defense, failing to register a single reception despite being targeted five times.

UPDATE: Graham returned to the field after getting examined and taped by the Saints training staff, but then went to the locker room in the final five minutes of the game with the New Orleans offense out on the field holding a one-point lead.
