Jaguars vs. Broncos 2013: Denver win was a ‘disheartening’ one

The Broncos earned a 16-point victory, but Denver fans weren’t very impressed with the team’s performance against the Jaguars.

The undefeated Denver Broncos held off the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday and earned a 16-point victory, but the margin wasn't nearly as large as most anticipated, as the winless Jaguars managed to stay competitive for the majority of the game.

As such, the underwhelming performance left Broncos fans exactly that: underwhelmed. On Sunday, Kyle Montgomery of SB Nation’s Broncos blog, Mile High Report, described the victory as a “disheartening” one:

From start to finish, the entire Broncos performance had an underwhelming feeling. Between a negative turnover ratio, fumbled snaps, and allowing Jaguars quarterback Chad Henne to outthrow Peyton Manning, the entire game was overshadowed with a sense of disappointment.

The entire game had an overarching theme: “I know the Broncos can do better.”

And a better team would have made them pay.

For the Jaguars, it was a game that featured a rare amount of offense, with Chad Henne eclipsing 300 yards passing. However, with two interceptions and no touchdown passes, the team didn’t translate the yardage into points and was unable to keep up with the high-powered Denver offense.

Still, the performance was likely enough to warrant Henne staying in the starting lineup for the Jaguars, according to Alfie Crow of SB Nation’s Big Cat Country:

Chad Henne, filling in for an injured Blaine Gabbert, didn’t do anything spectacular on Sunday, but he was functional and the Jaguars offense had some life. Henne finished the day 27-of-42 with over 300 yards and two late interceptions, which was probably the best performance by a Jaguars quarterback on the season, all things considered.

The Broncos will look to keep their undefeated streak intact with a Week 7 road trip to play the Indianapolis Colts, while the Jaguars will look for their first victory of the season at home against the San Diego Chargers.
