Bishop landed on injured reserve last season after tearing his hamstring during the preseason while playing for the Green Bay Packers. He had been a consistent presence in the front seven for five seasons up until the injury, but he has struggled to return to full form since. Bishop was in danger of missing the Vikings' final roster cut in August due to a nagging groin injury.
Bishop's season appeared to just be getting back on track when he was named the Vikings' starter at weakside linebacker ahead of Marvin Mitchell. The Vikings could go back to Mitchell in Week 7 against the New York Giants, or give more snaps to rookie linebacker Gerald Hodges out of Penn State.
Frazier mentioned the possibility of signing depth off the free agent market.
