The Houston Texans may be looking for a long-term answer at quarterback after Matt Schaub went down with an ankle injury during Sunday's loss to the St. Louis Rams. Vince Young piped up on Twitter on Sunday to let the world know that he is interested in trying out for the team.

Vince Young believes he can step in and play quarterback for the Texans, who are scrambling for help after an ineffective Matt Schaub suffered an ankle injury Sunday.

Young spoke with Fox Sports after sending out the tweet, and said that he has already been in contact with the Texans about possibly setting up a workout. Young is from Houston, and played for Madison High School before committing to the University of Texas to play college football. He said he it would be a “dream come true” to suit up for Houston.
"I would literally be crying on my first interview if that happens," Young said. "People will be like, 'Why are you crying?' Because that would be a dream come true to play at home in front of my family and friends in the city I grew up in. They've been watching me since high school. I definitely wouldn't let them down.
"I'd put my blood, sweat and tears into getting that Super Bowl. That's something I would love to do, definitely for my hometown."
Young is currently a free agent after being released by the Green Bay Packers in the offseason. He was signed as a potential backup to Aaron Rodgers, but was apparently beat out by B.J. Coleman before Coleman was released in favor of Seneca Wallace.
If the Texans sign Young, he would appear in his fourth different uniform in three years. He hasn't been on an active NFL regular season roster since playing for the Philadelphia Eagles in 2011, when he threw four touchdowns to nine interceptions playing in six games for an injured Michael Vick.
Young told Fox Sports that he could step in and help the Texans immediately.
“I’m a veteran. I’ve been in this league,” he said. “I learned the Green Bay offense fast, coming in on short notice. It’s not really a major change. Everybody runs the same things, so it’s about how fast you can pick up the terminology. ... I just feel like I can pick it up and run plays I’m comfortable with that I had success with in the past and then start picking up more each day and each week. I really feel like that wouldn’t be a problem.”
