NFL injuries 2013, Week 6: Jimmy Graham headlines NFC South injuries

Jimmy Graham’s status moving forward is the big story in the NFC South after he suffered a foot injury on Sunday.

Chuck Cook-USA TODAY Sports

A week after Atlanta lost Julio Jones for the season, another one of the top receivers in the NFC South went down with an injury. Fortunately for New Orleans, Jimmy Graham's injury isn't as serious as Jones'.

More on that and the rest of the injuries from around the NFC South.

Atlanta Falcons

The Falcons were on a bye this week, giving them a break after losing Jones for the season. Jason Snelling is expected to return in Week 7 after suffering a concussion last week. Steven Jackson's status, however, remains uncertain. Mike Smith said he wasn't sure if Jackson will return to practice this week, according to Vaughn McClure.

Carolina Panthers

With Week 6 in the books, players who opened the season on the physically unable to perform list are eligible to be activated. In Carolina, that means all eyes are on running back Jonathan Stewart. Stewart, however, isn't a lock to return this week. Coach Ron Rivera said Stewart will go through a few workouts with trainers this week before the team makes a decision on activating him. Melvin White suffered a concussion on Sunday and will now have to go through the NFL's concussion protocol.

New Orleans Saints

Graham left Sunday's game with a foot injury and the injury was serious enough for Graham to undergo an MRI on Monday. According to Chris Mortensen, the Saints are optimistic Graham will be able to return in Week 8, following the team's bye week. Graham was held without a catch against New England and his absence was obvious with Drew Brees completing just 47.2 percent of his passes.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Da'Quan Bowers hasn't played as big of a role as expected this season, but his status going forward is uncertain after he was spotted wearing a walking boot following Sunday's game. Kick returner Jeff Demps was also injured on Sunday when he suffered a groin injury.

Mike Williams and Carl Nicks were both inactive on Sunday. Head coach Greg Schiano said Williams is likely to play next week. Nicks' status is uncertain and he is undergoing further evaluation after having a recurrence of a MRSA staph infection in his foot.
