It's been a rough season for the New York Giants, but the team caught a break on Monday with the news that running back David Wilson does not need neck surgery and may only be out another 3-4 weeks, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
David Wilson injury: Giants RB doesn’t need surgery, could return in 3-4 weeks
The Giants got some good news on Monday and could get running back David Wilson back within a month.

While New York will still be forced to get by without Wilson for another few weeks, the news is positive after there was some fear Wilson could miss the rest of the season. There were reports last week that Wilson could have spinal stenosis, which would have not only put his season, but possibly his career in jeopardy. Even despite the reports of a more serious injury, Wilson said he felt fine and wanted to play.
“Best case, I’ll be back after the second opinion,” Wilson said last week, via the New York Daily News. “That’s what I’m hoping and praying for because I feel perfectly fine. It really doesn’t make sense to me right now. People say, ‘Oh, but it’s the neck.’ But I feel like I’m fine. I’m willing to go out there and sacrifice and play with my team. This is what I love. That’s my choice.”
Based on the latest timeline, Wilson may only miss two more games. The Giants have upcoming games against Minnesota and Philadelphia before their bye week in Week 9. Until then, Brandon Jacobs will continue to start in Wilson's place.
