Nick Foles is Eagles’ starting quarterback ‘at this point’

The Eagles all but confirmed that Nick Foles will be the Week 7 starter as Michael Vick continues to rehab a hamstring injury.

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur suggested that quarterback Nick Foles will remain the starter for now. Foles is taking first-team reps at Tuesday's practice while Michael Vick recovers from a hamstring injury. Shurmur did not elaborate on Foles' future, but he hinted that the second-year player will continue starting until Vick is healthy. From Philly Mag:

“I can probably answer some of the [questions] that are going to come along here. Coach Kelly will address those issues about who the quarterback is when both of them are healthy. At this point we’ll go with Nick, and when Mike’s healthy we’ll have that discussion.”

The Eagles' quarterback situation got a lot more interesting after Sunday. Foles was nearly flawless filling in for Vick, completing 22-of-31 passes for 296 yards, three touchdowns and a rushing score in the Eagles' 31-20 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Vick himself admitted that he's still not 100 percent, all but confirming that Foles will get the start against the Dallas Cowboys next week. Rookie Matt Barkley is taking second-team reps in practice and is expected to be active again as Foles' primary backup next week. What happens with the quarterback position once Vick is healthy will be anybody's guess.
