Arian Foster has sore hamstring, but will play vs. Chiefs

Foster expects to be good to go this Sunday against Kansas City.

Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

Houston Texans running back Arian Foster is dealing with a sore hamstring but will play this Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs, reports John McClain of the Houston Chronicle.

Foster was held out of practice on Thursday, but expects to be ready to go on game day.

The star halfback has a history of nagging injuries, including a hamstring issue that kept him out of two games in early 2011, but has historically played through them. He has dealt with thumb and chest injuries so far in 2013 but has yet to miss a game.

With untested Case Keenum penciled in as the Texans' starting quarterback against the Chiefs, the team will need to lean heavily on the run game to protect its inexperienced signal caller. Foster will be the feature runner, but will split carries with talented backup Ben Tate.

The fifth-year pro has been hot of late, averaging over 113 rushing yards per game over the last three contests, including a 141-yard outburst during last week's loss to the Rams. While he's averaging a healthy 4.5 yards per carry, he has found the end zone only twice this season.
