Philip Rivers was named the AFC's Offensive Player of the Week by the NFL after going 35-for-42 passing for 401 yards and three touchdowns during the San Diego Chargers' win over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. Rivers has now been named Player of the Week twice in four weeks. He torched the Philadelphia Eagles for 419 yards in Week 2 for his first Player of the Week honor this season.

In the NFC, Drew Brees took Offensive Player of the Week after passing for 319 yards and four touchdowns against the Miami Dolphins on Monday Night Football. The NFC's Week 4 Defensive Player of the Week was Arizona Cardinals defensive back Patrick Peterson, who had two interceptions in the final four minutes of the Cards' comeback win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The AFC Defensive Player of the Week was Tennessee Titans cornerback Alterraun Verner, who also had two interceptions as well as a fumble recovery. The Titans scored 21 points off the three turnovers to defeat the New York Jets, 38-13. Verner is tied for the NFL lead with four interceptions this season. He has recorded at least one takeaway in four straight games.

Kansas City Chiefs punt return Dexter McCluster and Seattle Seahawks kicker Steven Hauschka were the AFC and NFC Special Teams Players of the Week, respectively. McCluster had an 89-yard punt return for a touchdown during the Chiefs' blowout win over the New York Giants. Hauschka made 3-of-3 field goal attempts, including a 45-yard game winner in overtime against the Houston Texans.
