NFL injury updates: Ahmad Bradshaw doubtful, C.J. Spiller questionable for Week 5

The injury statuses of Ahmad Bradshaw, C.J. Spiller and Danny Trevathan are the big stories that you may have missed on Wednesday.

Thearon W. Henderson

The Colts may be without Ahmad Bradshaw with for a second week in a row. The veteran running back is listed as doubtful for the Colts' Week 5 matchup against the Seahawks, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Bradshaw suffered a neck injury in Week 3's win against the San Francisco 49ers.

Bradshaw's absence from the lineup could have a major impact on Trent Richardson's fantasy football value as he is likely to be given a heavy workload. Richardson had 60 rushing yards and a touchdown on 20 carries against the Jaguars while Bradshaw sat out. Five-year veteran Donald Brown was also used in relief in Week 4 and could see some touches on Sunday as well.

Here is some other injury news from around the NFL that you may have missed on Wednesday:

Danny Trevathan injury: Broncos LB carted off practice field Wednesday

Broncos linebacker Danny Trevathan suffered a knee injury in practice on Wednesday. The injury was significant enough for Trevathan to be carted off the field, according to FOX Sports' Jay Glazer. The second-year player has filled the starting WILL linebacker spot for the Broncos this season.

He has started all four games for the Broncos this season and has compiled 30 tackles, one sack and one interception. Trevathan's direct backup on the depth chart is special teamer, Steven Johnson.

Raiders QB Terrelle Pryor will start vs. Chargers

Raiders' quarterback Terrelle Pryor is no longer feeling symptoms from the concussion he suffered in Week 3. He will be the starter for Oakland in their late-night game against Chargers on Sunday, according to Jerry McDonald of the Oakland Tribune. Pryor missed Week 4's loss to the Redskins, while veteran Matt Flynn started against Washington.

Stevan Ridley sits out of Patriots’ practice on Wednesday

Patriots' starting running back Stevan Ridley sat out of practice on Sunday with a knee injury, according to Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald. Ridley has been New England's featured back for the last two seasons and has rushed 174 yards this season. He has started three games this season, including Week 4's win against the Falcons.

If Ridley is unable to perform in Week 5, LaGarrette Blount would likely start in place of the three-year veteran. Blount is a former 1,000-yard rusher and was acquired in a trade by New England in the offseason.

C.J. Spiller listed as questionable, Fred Jackson is probable, and Bills backfield definitely a mess in fantasy

If you own either C.J. Spiller or Fred Jackson, you may have a dilemma this week in fantasy football. Spiller is listed as questionable with an ankle injury and may not play on a short week. Meanwhile, Jackson is probable with a knee injury but his production has not been what it once was in years past.

The Bills will face the Browns terrific defense on Thursday and with a banged up running back group, they could struggle to move the ball. Here is what SB Nation's Mike Gallagher had to say about the Bills' running back injury situation from a fantasy perspective:

It’s a bit unfair for Spiller to have such a short turnaround, and he’s likely going to be less than 100 percent against the Browns. Cleveland’s defense has been outstanding so far, ranking first in yards per carry allowed and fourth in rushing yards allowed. Spiller should be viewed as a flex as long as he’s active, and F-Jax would be a must-start with C.J. out of the lineup.

Jacoby Jones returns to practice for the Ravens

Ravens’ kick returner/wide receiver Jacoby Jones returned to practice on Wednesday, according to Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun. Jones injured his knee trying to field a punt in Week 1 after he collided with another Ravens’ player. He had missed the last three games with the injury but has now been cleared to practice.

While Jones is back at practice, his replacement is not participating. Rookie wide receiver Marlon Brown sat out of practice on Wednesday with a strained hamstring that he suffered in Week 4’s loss to the Bills. Cornerback Lardarius Webb was also held out, per Wilson.
