Patriots lose to Jets thanks to NFL field goal rule change
You’re not allowed to push your own player on special teams anymore. Someone should have told Chris Jones that.

Another week of last-minute madness for the Patriots, this instance in overtime against the Jets. New York was lined up to kick the field goal, a long one that missed. But there was a flag on the play. Patriots defensive tackle Chris Jones pushed his own man through the pile. It looked like a bad call, but it was actually the result of a new rule in the NFL this year.
Teams are no longer allowed to push players when they’re stacked up on field goal and punt formations.
Take a look:
Jones (a rookie) didn't start from a stack position but he ended up pushing from behind which as of this yr in NFL only is a penalty

Wow. Jets beat Patriots in overtime thanks to a new rule. I'm sure Belichick and Special Teams coach Obrien covered the rule w/ team

Joe Namath also offered his opinion on the penalty.
It's in the rule book and was a great call by the official! They try to protect the centers in the kicking game.

Last week, Saints fans were unhappy about an uncalled hold on the game-winning play.
Karma, I guess.
