Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler left Sunday's game against the Washington Redskins with a groin injury and did not return.
Bears to sign Jordan Palmer after Jay Cutler injury, according to report
Chicago acted quickly to add depth at quarterback.
The Bears have responded immediately, signing journeyman quarterback Jordan Palmer as insurance in case Cutler misses an extended period of time, according to Field Yates.
Palmer, drafted in the sixth round of the 2007 NFL Draft by the Washington Redskins, has also spent time with the Bengals, Jaguars and Bears. Chicago signed Palmer when Matt Blanchard broke his hand in the preseason but cut him two weeks later.
Now faced with another injury scare, it makes sense for the Bears to find a player with some familiarity with the offense. The 29-year-old Palmer doesn’t have a ton of game experience in the NFL, having never thrown a touchdown in his career.
Josh McCown came in the game to replace Cutler and will serve as the starter if Cutler misses time.
